Winter Activities
Cross-Country and Downhill Skiing
One of Canada's largest and most magnificent ski areas is just
5 minutes from the Hotel. Set against the backdrop of the spectacular
snow-capped Rocky Mountains, the Lake Louise Ski area offers 4000
acres of unsurpassed ski terrain. With 4 different mountain faces
to choose from, a variety of open bowls and tree-lined runs and
a perfect mix of terrain (25% novice, 45% intermediate, 30% expert)
skiers of all ability levels will find Louise unforgettable.
Although most winter visitors to Lake Louise are attracted by
the world class downhill skiing, the area also offers an abundance
of cross-country skiing. With winter's snowfall, the picturesque
hiking trails of Lake Louise, which draw thousand of tourists
to the area each summer, are transformed into some of the most
spectacular cross-country trails in the Canadian Rockies. Of course,
there is never a shortage of snow!
Convenient and free of charge, the Lake Louise ski hill shuttle
bus operates seven days a week during ski season, running guests
from the hotel's front doors to the base of the ski lifts.
Helicopter Skiing
An ultimate ski experience! As helicopter skiing is not permitted
in Banff National Park, there are several options available and
the closest is an hour and fifteen minutes away.
Dogsledding
Professional dogsledders operate within a few minutes drive of
the Post, and offer a variety of trips. Short trips are about
35 minutes, and are designed to give you a taste of dogsledding;
a half-day trip takes about 4 hours and, in some cases, participants
have the option of "mushing" their own dog team.
Sleigh Rides
Just 10 minutes from the hotel.
Skating
Enjoy the Post's outdoor skating rink. Located just outside the
front lobby.
