The plans for Fernie's only 'true' ski-in/ski-down began
with longtime friends Olympic gold medal skier Kerrin Lee-Gartner,
her husband Max and developer Mike Delich. Kerrin represented Canada
in the 1988 Calgary Olympics, and went on to win the women's downhill
gold medal at Albertville, France in 1992. She feels the snow in
Fernie is "out of this world" and the skiing at Fernie Alpine Resort
has one of the largest skiable areas in North America.
