Ski Plane- Glacier Landing Tour

Skiplane adventures combine a scenic flight in
the Canadian Rockies with a landing on the Columbia Icefield or one of the other many glaciers along the Continental Divide. Glaciers and icefields are one of the most fascinating aspects of the mountain environment in the Canadian Rockies. From the highways you typically see only the edge of the icefield, often as little as five percent of its total area.

We carry out the same scenic flight as in Tour # 2 but add a landing on one of the high icefields along the way. Glaciers and icefields are one of the most fascinating aspects of the mountain environment in the Canadian Rockies. From the highway you typically see only the edge of the icefield. Our ski-plane landing flights place you on the surface in the middle of the icefield where you can appreciate its immense size.
We will leave the airplane and have twenty minutes to spend walking nearby, taking photos and experiencing the cold thin air typical of this high altitude environment at 2,700 meters (9,000 feet) above sea level. Underfoot are several meters of snow on top of several hundred meters of solid glacial ice! We are surrounded by some of the highest and most remote peaks in the Rockies.
